I liked Super Book, and Flying House, (two Christian-based cartoons that used to come out). For other cartoons, I liked Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the older version), Gummy Bears, the Mario Brothers cartoons (all levels as I think they based the cartoons on the games), the Link and Zelda, and Captain N cartoons, Smurfs, ScoobyDo, and Captain Planet. On the Nickelodeon channel I liked Grimm's Fairytail Cllassics, David the Gnome, Eureka's Castle, Adventures of the Little Coala, and Doug. I know a lot of other shows I used to like and would like to see again, but those I mentioned would be some of my favorites that I can remember right now.

Oh yeah. I liked the Jetsons and I also liked Inspector Gadget. *smiling* Some other shows I can think of: Fragle Rock, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Garfield and Friends, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Anamaniacs, Ghostwriter, Reading Rainbow, (although I guess those two are not cartoons but still they were children's shows), Heathcliff, and, *thinks*, ... that's really all I can think of for now. *smile*

When I was a kid, like 5? I don't know I guess barney and mr. rogers, rugrats, inspector gadgit, flinstones, jetsons that kind of stuff. When I got a bit older like 8 or something I loved watching full house, saved by the bell, california dreams, family matters, and mama's family.

Post 18 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Friday, 12-Jan-2007 15:55:44

oo. *claps hands. I liked pokemon, rugrats, and definetly mama's family.

Post 22 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Monday, 19-Mar-2007 22:54:49

Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, and some other show whose name I can't remember.

Post 23 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 20-Mar-2007 1:01:08

Awww, I loved Fraggle Rock. I had me some Fraggle Rock toys back in the day. Lol.
For others: Ureka's Castle, Rugrats, David the Gnome, Franklin, Little Bear, Ninja Turtles ... um ... I'm blanking. I never was much for Sesame Street, except I love Elmo, and yes, I loved Barney. All the fun little songs, y'know. And I think I used to watch a show called Gulla Gulla Island on occasion.
When I got a bit older: Doug, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Ah! Real Monsters, et cetera.
Blues Clues and Dora the Explorer and the like have always irritated me terribly.

Post 24 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 20-Mar-2007 1:02:51

Ooohhh, and I forgot. I, too, used to love Mama's Family. And Reading Rainbow and Wishbone. Never was a Garfield person.

Post 25 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 5:25:56

Wow, it's funny hearing the names of some of the shows I'd forgotten about. My absolute favorite 80's cartoon was She-Rah, Princess of Power. I also liked a show called Gem and the Holograms, Rainbow Bright, and Smyrphs. On PBS I loved Reading Rainbow, a show called Secret City, Magic Schoolbus, and Wishbone! I loved the Nicklelodian shows like Today's Special, David the Gnome, the Koalas, and Pinwheel. I liked Mr. Rogers, but was never a big Sesame Street fan, even as a kid. Not sure why.

Post 26 by tunedtochords (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 9:34:24

My very favorite show was this bizarro show on the disney channel called Under the Umbrella Tree. It wasn't animated, it was all done with puppets... As I recall, it was amazing, but I think I was five the last time I saw it, soooo...:)

As for other favorites, The Adventures of the Little Koala, Gummi Bears, Care Bears, Welcome to Pooh Corner, eureka's Castle, pretty much everything on PBS except Barney (loved Lambchop and Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers especially).

Post 27 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Thursday, 29-Mar-2007 12:13:31

The best childrens, show of all blimming time when I was little, was of course, SootyI was and always will be, a huge Sooty fan. For those of you who aren't familiar with Sotty, Sweep, Soo and Matthew Corbett, they are a little yellow bear, a dog and a panda, who all live in a normal, family house with Matthew Corbett, who along with Soo the panda, does most of the narating and talking on all the programs. Sweep "talks" as well but sometimes you can't work out what he's saying, because rather than talking, he sort of squeaks, but he squeaks in the same way we would actually say something and express what we're saying, so you could tell whether he was asking a question or he was disappointed, sad, happy or over-excited. It always had me in stitches and rolling around on the carpet in front of the TV when he was around. Since I grew out of Sotty though, they've been joined by Sweep's little friend, I think his name's Scamp, well something like that anyway. Sooty lip-reads rather than speaks so it was quite hard to know what he was saying unless Matthew, Soo or Sweep answered or replied in return. I was always to be found in the audience as well when the Soty show was live on stage at any theatre, anywhere in the country. In fact, for my eith Birthday, mum fixed it so I could actually go backstage and met the man himself, Matthew Corbett and Sooty, who I had to bang on his box and wake him up so he'd pop out and say hellow to me and the two friends who'd come to see Sooty with me, mumn and her partner. I was even able to feel what he looked like how small he was and I was quite surprised that he was almost exactly as i imagined him, same size, feel, almost small enough to fit in your pocket, everything. Finally, I had actually met the man with that lovely, calming voice who read me my bedtime stories on my Fisher Price cassette player at night, kept me happy in front of the telly during the day and gave everyone free magic wands, badges, balloons, rosettes and tiaras whenever we went to see a Sooty show performed live. Best childrens, show ever, no doubt about that.

The Electric Company!

You can actually find some of the songs from it on YouTube. Clever stuff, some of it.

I was not a kid who was very much into kid shows; I was always an old bore. Hated cartoons and such silliness.

Post 32 by motifated (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 25-Aug-2007 7:21:04

This is fascinating to see the different generations and different countries offerings in this television genre. As much as children love the Flintstones, they were orriginally a prime-time adult program. Having said that, I must confess to owning several Flintstone DVD's. I'm also amazed at how much adult humor is found in Rocky and Bolwinkle, or however he spells his name.

Post 33 by Big Pawed Bear (letting his paws be his guide.) on Saturday, 25-Aug-2007 9:49:20

many cartoons, especially in the eighties, had two levels, the adult and the child level. I liked thundercats, technology and a big helping of loyalty.

Since watching cartoons more again these days, there are some other shows I like. apparently, I did watch most of these shows when I was little too, but I don't remember them (I mean that I watched them). Some shows I've been watching lately that are now favorites (among some of the others I mentioned in an earlier post here), are "Wacky Races", "Batfink", "Josie and The Pussycats", "The Banana Splits", "Cattanooga Cats", and "Top Cat".

Post 43 by Diane (Missing a Friend!) on Monday, 05-Nov-2007 21:29:19

Yea, someone who remembers Captain Kangaroo--whenever I mention him, people look at me like I've come from another planet--remember the pingpong balls from that one.
When older, Happy days, LaVern and Shirley, Welcome Back Cotter.
Oh my, do you remember those shows called Emergency and Adam 12? I guess those were the forerunners to my current enjoyment of Law and Order and CSI.
A lifelong fan of Winnie the Pooh (not so much the new ones though) and...don't laugh...I still watch Little House on the Prairie re-runs...I even just finished renting them straight through all 10 seasons from NetFlix...isn't that pathetic? LOL.

Post 44 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 06-Jan-2008 5:08:48
